How Sustainability Can Build A Better Greener Hartford

Sustainability Is Key!!!

(Hartford’s Night Skyline)

“In communities in North America and around the world, citizens and their governments are embracing sustainability, not as an afterthought tacked onto official community plans, but as a new way of thinking about their future” – Roseland 3

The concept of just sustainability could be the saving grace for humanity in terms of rescuing the earth and our environment from the harm we have caused it.  Scientists and environmentalists have taken initiative to try and raise awareness for sustainability.

Hartford Does Their Part!

Hartford has taken initiative over the past couple of years to jump on the gun in terms of sustainability efforts. KPSP is among several organizations who have made it there purpose to push sustainability standards into every home and community possible.

Ms. Hodges chimes into this saying:

Q: How do you feel about the current sustainability efforts in the Hartford area?

A: I feel that Hartford is definitely doing our part. We are among many organizations that are fighting for the same goals.

Q: Do you feel that KPSP is doing their part in the sustainability efforts?

A: Well KPSP, has done a wonderful job at making sure the youth are aware of their options and the right thing to do. I feel we are off to a great start and we are only going to improve.

Q: Do you feel that we are going to be able to dig ourselves out of the hole we built as humans?

A: Honestly I do.

Q: What would it take?

A: Uniting. We as humans are so strong that we can solve any issue we are faced with. Our current situation will definitely put that theory to test though.

“Unfortunately, government is generally not set up to support public spaces and Placemaking. Rarely is anyone in the official power structure actively focused on creating a successful public realm. Not only are there not individuals or departments focused on public spaces, but as a whole government does not explicitly seek successful public spaces as an outcome.” – Project for Public Spaces, 16

For us as humans to overcome this it will take all of us.  This is not something one person can change. KPSP is making sure that they are priming the leaders of the future for sustainable success.
