(Town Green in Bloomfield, Connecticut)

My name is Che’Saih Hill-Gore. I have lived in Hartford County for my whole life. I live just three minutes away from the capital in the small, suburban town of Bloomfield. Many of my family members grew up in Hartford and a lot of family and friends still live there. This project is of great importance to me because it allows me to take a deeper look into the sustainability efforts that are happening right in front of me. Before attending UMass Dartmouth I could not tell you the meaning of a sustainable city. However, since my arrival my eyes have been opened. Sustainability is one of our world’s most urgent problems in my eyes and I have created this website to truly analyze if Hartford is doing their part and more importantly, are the city’s efforts working. Before doing my research I had no idea that these types of activities are going on in the community and I believe that this is the reality for much of the youth. Exposure to my page can raise awareness of the actions that Hartford is doing and maybe the target demographic will be reached at a higher rate. It is important that just sustainability is taken seriously by the youth as we are the future and raising awareness is a great start.
