Moving Forward

(A KPSP Event in 2019)

“Environmental sustainability aims to improve human welfare through the protection of natural capital (e.g. land, air, water, minerals etc.). Initiatives and programs are defined environmentally sustainable when they ensure that the needs of the population are met without the risk of compromising the needs of future generations.” -FutureLearn.com

KPSP is doing big things. Ms. Hodges believes that this movement can be even bigger. She feels that KPSP is doing their part however, she believes that uniting forces could make for an even bigger impact.

Q: Do you feel that we are going to be able to dig ourselves out of the hole we built as humans?

A: Honestly I do.

Q: What would it take?

A: Uniting. We as humans are so strong that we can solve any issue we are faced with. Our current situation will definitely put that theory to test though.

Q: If presented with a chance what would you change?

A: I would just try to make our efforts larger. I think that we need to find a way to facilitate all of this into one voice to make us stronger.

Uniting can make for a stronger message to be relayed. We have talked with many residents from the Hartford county area and it seems that organizations such as KPSP are not as known as they should be. If they were all under one accord maybe their efforts would be more renown.

“As important as sustainability is to many people now, it is hard to believe that it has always been an important goal. ” – Dale Jamieson

The efforts of groups such as KPSP have really stuck with the youth and are ensuring that their future will reflect the ideologies of just sustainability. KPSP has improved a lot but there is still room to grow and there are more kids to reach and Ms. Hodges and the rest of the team are going to try their hardest to make sure every kid knows what ‘just’ sustainability is all about.
